Oracle Benelux User Group merger completed
Arnhem, 23 maart 2010 - Since its establishment in 2007 the Oracle Benelux User Group (OBUG) has been a federation, a cooperation of several usergroups. As announced during last year’s OBUG Benelux Connect in Antwerp the merger has been finalized on Oct 15th 2009 during Oracle Open World. Apart from the Daily Board, the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are the backbone of the Benelux Oracle User Community. Five months into the new and improved OBUG several successes have been realized. The HCM-community (both eBS and PeopleSoft) organized combined get together. Primavera not only has landed as the latest applications SIG but is also represented with a full track on OBUG Connect 2010. Technology has been expanded with APEX. The APEX SIG-coordinator is the infamous Dimitri Gielis. Most recently several volunteers are working on new SIG’s for BI and Siebel and/or Retail. OBUG’s website will be renewed at latest by early April 2010 with lots of functionality for information and social networking; the latter of course for members only.
Some things haven’t changed, like OBUG’s purposes:
The challenge of every new or renewed start is keeping focus on longtime, loyal members, securing that each and everyone feels at home, SIG’s are continued and the back-office is secured. To secure the old and new (SIG’s) there’s always the need for additional, voluntary resources to keep discussions alive and events happening. We’ve been able to stabilize membership fee at € 300 for users and € 500 for partners. The ability to participate in all SIG’s, free entrance to OBUG Connect and international network communities makes membership a must have.
OBUG’s president, Janny Ekelson, is also involved in the international User Communities as spokesperson for the EMEA Usergroups. Most of OBUG’s board-members have a wide network, from top to bottom, within the Oracle organization. Perseverance, connections and mutual passion have once again led to a diverse and exclusive program for the OBUG members and interested professionals.
